Kinamlutan Church of Christ

Pioneered by Ben and Fe Basaya in late 2005 in partnership with a Bible teacher and three students of Sunrise Christian College. Ben is fairly new Christian lived a worldly and sometimes violent life in the past, but showed leadership and deep interest in the study of God's word while in Cebu where he was converted three years ago. He first worked with the church as a driver and security guard over a year ago. At night he is often times seen listening to Christian Radio speakers or reading the Bible. He has gathered small groups to study with one of the ministers or church leaders. Ben currently works in a reforestation project and leads the church planting effort during nights and weekends.

Chinchin Montoyo, one of the Bible teachers at Sunrise works with this church planting mission on weekends along with three Bible students as part of their training and service. Recently, the students, new members, and the Basaya couple cleaned up the town square. Sunrise brought a dump truck full of gravel and filled up an area that needed resurfacing. Next month or two, a Christian Day Care will open in the meeting place in the morning and will be serviced by Education majors of Sunrise Christian College.

The new Kinamlutan church will serve as a model for 2-3 new church planting work around Sunrise Christian College in 2006.
