enroll in 2nd Batch of Missionary
Training Program

Baguio
City, Philippines -- Ten trainees, three ladies and seven
men, have signed up for the 2nd Batch of the Central Baguio Church
of Christ's Missionary Training Program (CMTP-2). They are Evalyn
Azurin (Narciso, Zambales), Robin Baquiran (Baguio City), Paul Catao-an
(Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya), Ricardo Estrada (Malita, Davao del Sur),
Oscar Manangan (Pres. Quirino, Sultan Kudarat), Fely Lozano (Baguio
City), Daniel Nachuman (Aguinaldo, Ifugao), Michael Perrera (Calasiao,
Pangasinan), Sandra Pigganto (Tinoc, Ifugao), and Willy Quinsay
(Binalonan, Pangasinan).
Officially
called "Missionary Training Partners" (MTPs), the trainees
are a mix of single and married folks, 21 to 59 years old, and high
school graduates to degree holders.
The
MTPs underwent a diagnostic test on 29 January 2005 covering profiency
in English Grammar and Vocabulary (Speed Test), Bible, Mathematics,
and Abstract Reasoning. They also had team-building activities on
06 February 2005 which included lecturettes on Personal Mastery,
Servant Leadership, and Teamwork as well as Structured Learning
Exercises (SLEs) like Tower Building, Behavioral Patterns Inventory,
Goals for Personal Development Inventory, Visiograph, among others.
MTP-2
follows the progression scheme of the MTP-1 with a six-month General
Orientation Course (GOC, six-month Supervised Field Practice (SFP),
and two-day Revalida (Culminating/Final Assessment Program).
Besides
the original seven subjects (i.e. Christian Leadership, Christian
Missions, Church Music, Basic Communication 1 - English Grammar
and Composition, Hermeneutics, Homiletics, Personality Development,
and Personal Evangelism), Basic Communication 2 - Media and Missions
was recently added.
Alex
Coloma, Erwin Panday, Scott Saboy, and Sammy Seridio of the Baguio
Mission Team (BMT) serve as full-time instructors. Alvin Tanicala,
a locally known mediaman working as public relations officer to
the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Cordillera Administrative
Region (DSWD-CAR), has recently joined the teaching pool and is
handling Basic Com2 2.
Classes
are temporarily being held at the WBS office at the Baguio Church
of Christ along Rimando Road, Baguio every morning from Tuesday
to Saturday. Plans are underway for the transfer of the MTPs' classroom
and lodging to another facility two kilometers from the city's central
business district.
The
trainees' activities also include house-to-house campaigns, tracts
distribution, community work, and worship serving.
For
the SFP, the MTPs are expected to be sent in two separate groups
to new church planting missions in Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila
and San Carlos City, Pangasinan.
The
six MTPs of Batch 1 are now in Tagaytay City for a church planting
work under the leadership of Emmanuel Layco, an original member
of the BMT.
